The Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County

The Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County started as a partnership between Harvest for the Hungry, Save the Children Texas, and the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty. The coalition is now an extension of Harvest for the Hungry consisting of a multisectoral collaboration between schools, local government, food pantries, businesses, organizations, non-profits, healthcare, alliances, community members and individuals working together to end food insecurity in Brazoria County.

Bridge the Gap Project

The Bridge the Gap Project, a program of the Hunger Free Coalition of Brazoria County, helps ensure that children facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals during extended school breaks. Working in partnership with local school districts, food pantries, businesses, churches, and volunteers, the project provides food bags to students who participate in campus backpack programs when school meals are unavailable.

Through community collaboration and volunteer packing events, Bridge the Gap fills the gap between school-based meal programs and times when families may struggle to provide adequate nutrition. By bringing people and organizations together, the project helps support the health, well-being, and academic success of children throughout Brazoria County.

Hunger Free Summit

The coalition held its 2nd Annual Hunger Free Summit on June 5, 2026. The Summit is a gathering of coalition sponsors, partners, and the community to address the many facets of food insecurity, provide collaboration, learning, and advocacy for positive changes.

Anyone is welcome to be a part of our mission.
